Bunny, egg, and hot cross buns

If girls are made of sugar and spice and anything that’s nice, then Coles states that easter festivities are made of bunny and egg and hot cross buns. Not that I necessarily agree though.

However, since I’m having “holidays”, I decided to make hot cross buns (making chocolate bunny and eggs seems impossible to me… they might end up looking like a superman during landing crash, if you can imagine it).

I’d say making bread is twice as hard as making cakes, and three times as hard as making cookies. Yeasts are tricky little fellows. Maybe it’s just a matter of experience, or maybe they’re just simply being moody (hohoho, ain’t that a nice scapegoat for all problems?).

Somehow now I understand why men could dominate baking industry, despite of the traditional image of a country lady baking an apple pie (of course, without the hot pants and sexy apron… *hint hint*). You need the muscle! Kneading is not an easy task, it’s sort of a mixture of arm movement in fitness first’s body combat, abs and thigh exercise. I could even be inspired to make a bread ninjutsu out of it.

What determines a food is not how skillful you are, but your attitude when preparing it. As cliche as it could be, a food prepared with love tastes so much better.

And for those who missed out on the actual shape of the buns — generally due to “miscarriage” — you can eat the bun while looking at this picture. Maybe it’ll help to visualize… hahaha.

Special thanks for the golden bunny and egg… ^ ^ A question though, do you start from the ears or from the tail?

… and the giant golden egg…

Just fyi, this is the actual nursery rhyme…

What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails,
And puppy-dogs’ tails;
That’s what little boys are made of.

What are little girls made of?
What are little girls made of?
Sugar and spice,
and all that’s nice;
That’s what little girls are made of.

Hoho, quite a cruel rhyme, don’t you think? =P

Have a nice easter break, bunnies…!
